Dating Relationship Advice

With Long Distance Dating a Little Bit of Love Can Go a Long Way Toward Making Your Dating Dreams Come True!

I think I’ve found the perfect way to date. Join an online dating service like Match.com and search for men in a country you would really like to visit for some site seeing. It might turn into a wonderful long distance dating romance. For added safety take a girl friend to share a room and expenses.

Plan on spending your vacation visiting your new love interest in the country you want to site see in. Get an instant tour guide and maybe even a little romance.

Sound too risky, well then bring a girl friend. And ask your new love interest to fix your friend up with a guy friend of his. Double dating in a site seeing hot spot can really make some long distance dating dreams come true, plus increase your own security and save money by sharing a room with a girl friend or sister.

Long distance dating relationships that last. I’ve just come back from a holiday in Portugal, which is full of datable men. If I lived in Portugal, I found myself thinking, I’d have nowhere near as much trouble trying to find a man to date. They were everywhere. Young, old, middle-aged, single, divorced, widowed. And I did exactly what you might expect. I dated one of them. I don’t want to say I had a holiday romance, it’s such a cliché, but I suppose that’s what it was.

Now this man was nothing like the men I normally go out with, thankfully. He was good looking for a start, and I don’t just mean passable, I mean really good looking. On top of that he opened doors for me and carried my bags. He picked a flower for me on our first date and never took his eyes off me all evening. I’m sure if the women in my American town were surrounded by “hot” men of Portugal like this no one would be single. And for certain, more women would be open to a long distance dating relationship with men like him.

Our dates consisted of romantic walks along the beach at sunset, a meal for two in a quiet little restaurant, a stroll through the old streets, hand in hand, and sometimes we would simply sit and talk. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

And it was. But of course a holiday romance can’t go on forever. Once your two weeks are up you have to come home to reality. Perfect dating is a bit of a fantasy anyway. Just like perfect men are. Dating in a holiday bubble like that isn’t real. It can’t last. Or can it? I know that long distance dating couples that stay together do so because of their determination to work together to overcome the challenges of long distance dating. And a successful long distance dating relationship tends to lead to a successful marriage.

On my final day, sitting on my case waiting for the bus to come and take me to the airport, he turned up at my hotel. It had all the hallmarks of a tearful farewell. He was breathless from running to get to me before the bus came and I was overwhelmed at seeing him there. We hadn’t planned a last goodbye like that. In those remaining five minutes before I travelled back home we quickly wrote down each other’s phone numbers and addresses and promised to keep in touch. The seeds of a blossoming long distance romance have definitely been planted.

A long distance dating fantasy? Maybe. But he has called.

We’ve settled on one phone call a week, one letter a week and as many emails as we have the time for. Every Saturday morning I write a letter, and so far, he does the same. My lunch breaks at work are kick started by my impatience to get to a free computer and check my inbox. This is the wholesome stuff that can keep a long distance dating relationship alive and thriving. Every Tuesday night we sit down at exactly the same time and either he calls me or I call him. It’s a date, of sorts. It is a real dating relationship only with a bit of distance to overcome. At least it seems like I am enjoying a long distance dating romance. And what’s more, it’s a date with none of the down sides. I don’t have to worry about how I look or whether or not I’ll still fancy him. There’s no awkwardness. We don’t have to search our brains for new and exciting places to go or things to do to impress each other. We just talk. And isn’t talking and relating what makes a relationship worth having, no matter the distance.

It seems to be a great way to date someone. The only question is, how long can it last? Will we end up eventually getting married? Sure I like kissing and cuddling, but for now this long distance dating has got me already planning my next trip to Portugal.
